The tradition continues.....

I just want to introduce two new members of the wrestling business and family.

My daughter Samantha and her brother Hijo de Huracana (named after me,,lol) both did their first live event at the Orange County Fair Grounds last night to a crowd of 7,000+ fans!!

Samantha 13 years old and an aspiring model and valet in training worked with R2K, Infernal, Chippy Sanchez and Gold Digger (also a valet/wrestler).

Hijo de Huracana, my 11 year old son and new sidekick worked the show and took the corner of the technico mini during the mini championship match. Here are some photos of them.

I am very proud of these two kids and their desire to keep wrestling in the family!!! Much thanks to Martin at WPW for giving them such an enormous opportunity!!

Patch: Have you always been a Wrestling fan, if not how and when did your love of Wrestling begin?

Hurricane Havana: I had a company contact me and ask me if I wanted to do some training and I said sure why not. I have 14 brothers so I have to know how to fight so I can protect myself.

Patch: When and where did you work your first wrestling show?

Hurricane Havana: I worked my first show for EWF San Bernardino 2004.

Patch What were you feeling just minutes before you stepped into the ring for the first time?

Hurricane Havana: I was excited and nervous all at one time.

Patch: You are the owner of California Wrestling Babes. When did you form this promotion?

Hurricane Havana: Yes I am the owner and I officially incorporated as CWB Entertainment dba California Wrestling Babes on March 9, 2006

Patch: What made you decide to start this promotion?

Hurricane Havana: I decided to start my own promotion and training of other girls when I found out that there are no girls to wrestle in the Southern California area. So I am now training and booking girls for other shows. I provide lady wrestlers for other promotions in and around the So Cal area as well as Mexico and other parts of the US. We are working to develop enough women in the business so we can have some all female shows. It will take some time to get that many girls trained, but it will be worth it. We have an excellent trainer, Rudy Luna who has 15+ years experience and has trained a good number of men in the Southern California area.

Patch: Hurricane Havana, as a wrestler, who has given you your toughest matches?

Hurricane Havana: My toughest Match was with Metalica from Mexico. We had a match at the Auditorio in Tijuana a few months back and it was vicious. The crowd was awesome!!!! I really want to go back soon.

Patch: I interviewed you once before. What have you been up to since then?

Hurricane Havana: I have been wrestling for many promotions and working with some real big names. I was the NTW/NTLL ladies champion which was awesome!! The old promotion I worked for did not have a ladie's belt, so it was really nice to be able to work for something and finally receive recognition for all my hard work.

I also have been working hard on my own stuff. One of the great things about this business is you get to meet people who have done it all and you can learn so much from them. They are very helpful and have given me opportunities that never existed when I was at my old promotion.

I have also been working with a couple of other promotions and collaborating with them regarding shows which will be coming up (God willing) at a variety of military bases in the US, Asia and Europe. The deals are still being worked on, but just yesterday myself and another promoter, my husband as well as our wrestling group met with the Captain of the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier. We are planning a show on the ship which is undergoing work in San Diego. The ship is BIG!!! Myself, my husband and the rest of the entourage were impressed and we are looking forward to putting on a great show for the sailors. In case nobody knows, I LOVE MEN IN UNIFORM!!!

We are also in collaboration for a very large "after Cinco de Mayo" event here in Southern California. It will be an all day affair and feature over fifty wrestlers, most of which will be luchadors from Mexico and Southern California. You can bet, of course the ladies will be represented as well at that event.

I must admit that I have been a busy lady and things just seem to speed up and snowball. Once we start doing one thing, opportunities open up somewhere else and we just keep going through open doors leading to more opportunities.

People say I am not a "typical wrestler." Well, that is true. I have always been a business woman in and out of the ring. I have tried to teach so many girls and guys these principles, but some just don't understand. Those that do become better wrestlers, better business persons, and generally, better people. Every wrestler has to treat themselves as an independent contractor and a good business sense will bring you success. If you treat this like a hobby, you will get nowhere.

Don't forget, I am a mother of two and I teach these very principles to my children. I have a 10 year old son who is being trained by Rudy Luna and already promotions are wanting him for their shows. In fact, there is one promotion in Mexico that wants to see him work as my sidekick for some of their shows. My thirteen year old daughter is not really interested in pro wrestling but she is one heck of a submission wrestler. She is pretty good at it and who know where she will go with that? Presently, she tells me she wants to be a marine biologist and a competitive swimmer. Maybe if we can put a ring in the water, we can get her more interested in pro wrestling.

I bought a new ring and now that I have that, I have a place to train as well as another source of income via ring rentals. We have gotten off to a good start training some new ladies and two of them have already done shows. I kind of feel it was a bit soon for them, but they did a great job and they fell in love with being in the ring the moment they got in front of the crowd!!!! Two of these ladies you already know and you are in the process of contacting them for future interviews. They are Afrika and Vashte. Both of these ladies are hard workers and you will have a good time following their careers as they progress. We have a number of new girls contacting us and setting up training for themselves. It is hard to find women who are cut out for this type of work, but in a very short time I have been able to do what other promoters haven't, and that is recruit new females and train them.

Patch: Do you work as a Heel, or as a Baby, and which is easier for you?

Hurricane Havana: I work as a baby normally but I have worked as a heel when working as a Valet. I enjoy both but prefer being a baby it is easier for me since I am normally sweet anyways.

Patch: Who are some of your favorite Pro Wrestlers?

Hurricane Havana: The Rock, Lita, Shane Helms, Super Kendo, Rey Misterio Sr, Super Parka, Medusa, El Genio, Tornado Negro, Los Villanos, Mil Mascaras, Halloween, Damien 666, Rudy Luna, Black Steel, and so many others I have worked with especially in the last eight or nine months.

Patch: Do promoters treat you differently because you are a lady, or do they try to hold you back in any way?

Hurricane Havana: I have some promoters treat me nice and help me along and some hold me back. The promotion I left before I went out on my own basically treated me like a secretary. I did all the back room stuff for them. Helped book shows, coordinate wrestlers, and do all the work of a promoter, but never received pay for it.

I went six months without a match because the promoter didn't want to hire outside talent for me to work with. I was the only female and even though I had sponsors who would have paid for female talent to travel to California, his feeling was women never brought him any money, so why hire them? Also, he wouldn't let me wrestle the men for fear their careers would be ruined. Now, I wrestle main event with and against men and I have the opportunity to work with women from Mexico and other places. I have to thank Martin at World Power Wrestling for believing in me and giving me these opportunities. It has made a big difference in my career. Also, the fact that many big name luchadors in Mexico have expressed confidence in me has been a great help. So many need to be thanked, but I have to really take time and thank Rey Misterio Sr. for his confidence in me.

Patch: Where have your travels taken you to work Wrestling shows?

Hurricane Havana: I have gone to Mexicali and Tijuana, Mexico, all over California, Nevada and the East Coast.

Patch: What are your thoughts on the Wrestling fans?

Hurricane Havana: I love the fans if it was not for them I would not be out there wrestling. I have the greatest respect and admiration for them. I am very thankful that they come to see me and that they feel I am worth it to buy a ticket and watch the show.

Patch: What can fans expect to see from you when they see you for the first time?

Hurricane Havana: They can expect to be treated with love and respect. They can also expect to see a blonde Cubana kick butt and take names!

Patch: Do you have a website?

Hurricane Havana: Web site Link:
www.hurricanehavana.net , http://www.californiawrestlingbabes.com
My Space Link:
http://www.myspace.com/hurricanehavana

Patch: Do you have a message for the fans and our readers?

Hurricane Havana: Yes, To all my fans, keep an eye out for me. My plans are to one day work for TNA and travel all over the world.

Patch: Well, our time has ended, thanks again for coming in to talk with me. I wish you much success in your career!

Hurricane Havana: Thank you Patch for having me as your guest and giving me the opportunity to update my fans with my career highlights.
